DONALD Trump Jr retweeted a post which detailed the prior criminal convictions of an unarmed black man who was shot by police in front of his kids.
Harrowing video showing Jacob Blake, 29, being blasted seven times by a cop in Kenosha, Wisconsin on Sunday has sparked fresh Black Lives Matter protests in the city.
Police say they were responding to a domestic disturbance when Blake was gunned down as he entered his car while his children were sitting in the back seat.
Amid the anarchic violence which has since erupted in Kenosha, Trump Jr, the son of President Donald Trump, retweeted a post by journalist Andy Ngo which detailed Blake's criminal history.
Mr Ngo is a reporter known for his coverage of street protests in the US including those by left-wing groups Antifa and BLM.
His post claimed that Mr Blake had been arrested for pulling a gun on a customer in a bar and allegedly caused “soft tissue damage” to a cop during the subsequent arrest.
He was also allegedly charged with third-degree sexual assault and domestic violence.
Trump Jr also posted a video from a YouTuber showing “BLM arsonists” appearing to set fire to a car dealership in Wisconsin.
The issues of racism in America and police brutality towards black people have been inflamed by the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis in May.
Police officer Derek Chauvin was filmed holding his knee on the neck of Mr Floyd – who died minutes later - who appeared distressed and repeatedly said he was struggling to breath.
Since then, BLM protests have erupted nationwide and the shooting of Jacob Blake has further enraged the movement.
The Kenosha incident happened on Sunday at about 5pm local time as officers were responding to a "domestic incident".
A video circulating on social media showed the man walking towards a car followed by two officers and one of them shooting him in front of his kids as he opens the car door.
Witnesses said Blake was trying to break up an argument between women in a home nearby.
The 29-year-old is recovering in hospital and is expected to survive.
Following the shooting, furious crowds gathered at the scene and threw bricks and Molotov cocktails at police, according to reports.
Some rioters smashed squad cars and one police officer collapsed to the pavement after he was hit with a brick.
The unrest, which raged for a second night on Monday, has prompted the County of Kenosha to declare a state of emergency.
