Donald Trump will visit Kenosha, Wisconsin - the city that has seen unrest since a white police officer shot a black man in the back - on Tuesday, a White House official has said.
Jacob Blake, 29, was left paralysed from the waist down following the shooting last Sunday. He remains in hospital heavily sedated but has regained consciousness, his father has said.
While visiting the hurricane-ravaged areas of Louisiana and Texas on Saturday, the US president told reporters that he probably would visit the city.
It was later confirmed by the White House official who said Mr Trump will meet law enforcement officials and assess damage in the city when he visits.
Every night since Mr Blake's shooting, protesters have marched in Kenosha with some demonstrations turning violent resulting in buildings and vehicles being damaged and torched.
On Tuesday, two protesters were shot dead after a teenager opened fire in the middle of the street with a semi-automatic rifle.
Kyle Rittenhouse, 17, from Antioch, Illinois, has been charged with first-degree murder and a host of other offences.
A state of emergency was declared and more than 1,000 members of the National Guard have been deployed to help keep the peace.
Meanwhile, about 1,000 people joined a mile-long march in Kenosha on Saturday night, chanting "Black Lives Matter", "No Justice, No Peace" and "seven bullets, seven days" - a reference to the number of times Mr Blake was shot.
During the rally Mr Blake's father, Jacob Blake Snr, gave an impassioned call for changing a system he described as fostering police brutality and racial inequalities.
"There were seven bullets put in my son's back... hell yeah, I'm mad," he said.
"What gave them [the police] the right to attempt murder on my child? What gave them the right to think that my son was an animal? What gave them the right to take something that was not theirs? I'm tired of this."
Mr Blake Snr told reporters that his son remains heavily sedated in hospital but has regained consciousness.
"He's in a lot of pain," he said.
"I just wish I could pick my baby up and make it all right."
