President Lukashenko of Belarus has threatened to flood western Europe with migrants and drugs if sanctions are imposed on his regime over the forced landing of a Ryanair flight.
European Union foreign ministers began talks in Lisbon yesterday on economic measures that could target the former Soviet state’s most important industries and its financial sector.
Lukashenko, 66, warned Europe: “We stopped drugs and migrants. Now you will eat them and catch them yourselves.”
Belarus shares a border with Latvia, Lithuania and Poland — all EU states — as well as Ukraine and Russia.
