Mr Trump said: "It could have been stopped in China before it started and it wasn't, and the whole world is suffering from it."
Recently President Trump has hit out at China, many suggesting that it is a tactic to create an enemy and thus show voters in the run-up to the US election that he is going to be tough on the perceived threat, and to deflect from shortcomings in his own response to the pandemic.
He regularly refers to coronavirus as the "Chinese virus".
Allegations of Beijing's lack of transparency have escalated after the city of Wuhan, where the outbreak began, revised its total number of fatalities upwards.
The city has now increased this number by 50 percent.

The US has by far the world's highest number of confirmed coronavirus cases, with more than 730,000 infections and over 38,000 deaths.
Many in the US suggest the president should de-escalate tensions with China as it is reliant on Sino PPE products to help tackle the pandemic.
Many US states are planning to lift restrictions on movement over the next week.
Many commentators have said that this is far too early and risks causing a second wave of infections.
Texas and Vermont are going to allow certain businesses to reopen on Monday, while the state of Montana is planning to lift restrictions on Friday.
Mr Trump told reporters: "We continue to see a number of positive signs that the virus has passed its peak".
