Sydney shark attack victim named as British expat - The Times

The victim of Sydney’s first fatal shark attack in 60 years has been identified as an expat diving instructor from Britain, who was training for a charity swim.

Simon Nellist, 35, who was engaged to be married to his Australian girlfriend, was an experienced diving instructor who had previously objected to protective shark nets being placed around beaches.

He was attacked by a four-metre-long shark while training for a charity swim at Buchan Point, near Little Bay, to the southeast of Sydney on Wednesday afternoon.
