'#Trumpyourefired': Twitter trolls Donald Trump on his last day as president - Sky News

With a fist in the air, outgoing President Donald Trump boarded Marine One to make a fast exit from the White House - but he could not escape the Twitter burn as neatly.

Among the trending hashtags on the day Joe Biden took his oath as the 46th president of the US were #Trumpslastday, #byeDon and the predictable, but for Twitter, deliciously relevant #Trumpyourefired.

Posting a picture of Mr Trump standing on the Marine One helicopter steps just moments before his lift-off from the White House, climate change activist Greta Thunberg tweeted: "He seems like a very happy old man looking forward to a bright and wonderful future. So nice to see!"

The 18-year-old and the 74-year-old exchanged tweets late last year in the days after Mr Trump's defeat to Joe Biden in the US election, with Ms Thunberg's message phrased exactly like Mr Trump's insult directed at her December 2019.

Celebrity chef Nigella Lawson tickled the internet with some subtle shade, by selecting a "bitter orange tart" as her recipe of the day.

The popular TV cook and author tweeted: "Well, yes, Bitter Orange Tart just happens to be #RecipeOfTheDay".

More from Donald Trump

And she added cheekily that the base was simple to make - "just bash some ginger nuts".

British Late Late Show TV host James Corden decided to channel Les Misérables in his tweet.

Drafting in the help of Patti LuPone and Matt Lucas, Corden walked through the CBS Television offices singing a parody of the song "One Day More" while trying to purge the building of the president's presence.

American actor, producer and writer William Baldwin said he had got up early to say farewell to the president who he has often clashed with on social media.

Comedian and satirist Randy Rainbow recorded a scathing new parody to mark the farewell which included the line: "How do you measure four years with this orange garbage can? In Spicers, in Conways...in fake news?"

And British impressionist Rory Bremner used the quote "we will be back in some form" from Mr Trump's farewell speech to mock him. He tweeted: "Maybe some prison uniform?"
